Yoga for Winter Sports
Saturday, February 20th 1:30-3:30pm
$15 for pre-registration - $20 day-of
This 2-hour class will focus on strengthening the legs muscles, including single leg strengthening/balance, to prevent strain in the knee joints & also work on the stabilizing muscles around the core and pelvis to improve balance. Specific stretches will be addressed, which will target common muscle imbalances and open the muscles surrounding the hips and pelvis.
About the Teacher: Somer has been a yoga instructor since 2002 and teaches with a strong emphasis on alignment and safety. Her degrees include a Doctorate of Physical Therapy and a Masters of Occupational Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in Florida. A move to Fort Collins in 2006 has brought her to work in outpatient orthopedics at Momentum Physical Therapy. Somer combines her knowledge of therapy and yoga and integrates yoga-based exercises into her physical therapy practice to enhance rehabilitation.
